News: Introducing Cauli Cups - a sustainable solution to your morning coffee
Jan 8, 2026

On 5 January, University of Surrey launched the CauliBox reusable cup scheme across 6 of their campus coffee shops, and with it, they’ve completely removed disposable cups from these outlets.
"This is a significant change for the customers, but one we’re incredibly proud of. The response from Surrey staff and students has been overwhelmingly positive, with so many people embracing the shift and getting behind what we’re trying to achieve." Jenny Kelly, Hospitality Retail Manager.
This launch builds on the wider sustainability work happening across Catering. The University recently achieved the highest 3-star rating in its Food Made Good accreditation and Gold in the University’s Green Impact scheme.
Sustainability has been a core part of the University's catering strategy for over four years, guided by a policy that they continue to review, improve and strengthen.
And as if things couldn’t get any better, Cauli's Head of Sustainability and Operations, Zuzana Vojtek, is also a University of Surrey alum. For the Surrey team, "it feels especially meaningful to be driving this work with someone who knows the University so well and is now helping shape a more sustainable future for the campus community she once studied in".
